Online again

An easy morning run took us up to Cochem, one of the bigger towns on the Mosel, though still pretty small. We did pass a ruined castle on the way, which was quite decorative.

Cochem was rather crowded, since they had a couple of enormous tour boats in, so hordes were being guided around the gift shops. Nonetheless, the central square was very attractive, and we did make a pit stop there, to be entertained by bells at noon.

As we were about to lunch on the bank, a flotilla of little steam boats arrived, hooting merrily: this paddle steamer was particularly unusual.

After lunch we pressed on, passing below the spectacular castle, which we decided, however, to resist. It's a long way up there!

The little villages along the river were all attractive, particularly this one, Bielstein:

The vineyards were crazily steep, and the owners were out pruning and spraying. I guess the harvest cannot be far off.
